Our Band

Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Calhoun’s Calling is an exciting and energetic band comprised of Nathan Calhoun (acoustic guitar and vocals), Andy Childs (saxophone), Tad Fletcher (bass guitar), and Jonathan Alcon (drums/percussion). Their repertoire includes both original and cover music that is steeped in rock, R&B, pop, funk, reggae, alternative, and hip-hop genres spanning from the 70s and 80s to today. Their 16-year long standing performance residence on Folly Beach is one of the longest in the Charleston area. Their performances can also be enjoyed throughout the Charleston area at local venues as well as at private events, parties, and weddings.

Our Story

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Nathan Calhoun moved to the Charleston area and began performing as a solo act. Both his unique voice and precise guitar playing made him stand out in the local music scene. By chance, he met a saxophonist named Andy Childs at a late night gig, and the two began to develop a unified sound: Nathan playing acoustic guitar and singing with Andy filling the music with melodic lead lines, artistic solos, and supportive backing vocals. Over the years, they teamed up with various other talented instrumentalists and through these years developed their name: Calhoun’s Calling.
